How it works

One loop, four steps, your approval in the middle

Most tools stop at a report. SourceVision closes the loop: it measures, proposes, applies what you approve, and checks that the change actually landed.

1. Measure

We build a list of the questions a shopper in your category would ask an AI assistant, from broad ("best natural soap for dry skin") to specific ("is this brand's mud soap fragrance free?"). Each question is asked repeatedly across the assistants we cover, and every answer is stored unchanged.

From those answers we extract who was recommended, what was said about your products, and what the assistant got wrong. The result is a scorecard: your visibility per question group, always with a confidence band, plus the specific claims and gaps the assistants surfaced.

Raw answers are never deleted. Your scores can be recomputed from them at any time.

2. Propose

For each product, SourceVision drafts the content an assistant needs and your page does not yet have. The parts are fixed and simple: what it is, who it is for, what it is not, and a short FAQ built from the questions shoppers ask.

Every draft is grounded in facts you confirmed during setup. The generator refuses claims it cannot source, refuses medical and treatment language for cosmetics, and will not repeat sentences that already exist on your page. When it is unsure, it leaves a part empty rather than guessing.

You see each proposal side by side with the current page before deciding.

3. Approve and apply

Approved parts are written to two places. First, to the SourceVision section: a theme app block you place once on your product template, which renders only the parts you accepted and inherits your theme's styling. Second, to Shopify's structured data: your product category and the metafields assistants and agents read through Shopify's catalog.

Your own product body is not touched. The section sits below it. When the FAQ renders, the page also carries FAQPage structured data, never a second Product entry.

Placing the block is a merchant step in the theme editor, and the app guides you through it. Publishing the theme is always yours.

4. Verify

After each write the app reads the field back and compares it to what it intended to write. The result is recorded in a ledger with the before state, the after state, and who approved it. A write that did not land is marked failed, not assumed.

Landed Needs approval Failed Rolled back

Any applied change can be rolled back to its recorded before state. Then the loop runs again: a fresh measurement shows whether the assistants picked up the change.

Live example

Jericho Cosmetics, our own store

Jericho is a Dead Sea skincare brand we own and run on Shopify. It is where every SourceVision feature runs first.

Before

First scan, 225 AI answers across the assistants we cover: Jericho was recommended in under 1% of them.

Product pages carried the merchant's description and little else an assistant could use.

After

The hero product now carries a SourceVision section (what it is, who it is for, what it is not, a four-question FAQ) plus FAQPage structured data and a corrected product category.

Follow-up visibility numbers are published here once the re-scan completes.

Questions merchants ask

Does SourceVision rewrite my product descriptions?

No. Your existing product copy stays where it is. Generated content goes into a separate SourceVision section on the page, and only where you accepted it. The only edits we propose to your own copy are small ones, such as a clearer title, and each one needs your approval.

Which AI assistants do you measure?

The beta measures ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. Amazon's Rufus follows with the Amazon integration once our Selling Partner API access is approved.

What does a confidence band mean?

AI assistants give different answers to the same question on different runs. We ask each question many times and report the range of outcomes, so a score of 12% with a band of 8 to 16% tells you what to trust and what is noise.

Can I undo a change?

Yes. Every write is recorded with its before and after state. A rollback restores the previous state in one action, and the record of both stays in your ledger.

Does the app publish my theme?

No. Theme changes are staged as a preview for you. Publishing a theme is always your action in the Shopify admin.

What permissions does the app need?

Read and write products, and read themes, so the app can read your product pages and write to the SourceVision section and metafields. Theme write access is optional and only requested if you want the app to stage the section block for you.
